RISE AND SHINE
I love waking up on weekends. Lukie, my 5 years old son, on my right holding my neck. My 6 months old baby Dylan on my left using my arm as his pillow. My husband’s feet touching my feet as he snores next to Lukie. He just got into bed an hour ago from a night shift work. What happened to the other room and the baby’s crib? Empty. Thanks to our enormous bed, I can still breath.
Lukie can’t go to sleep without holding my neck. I have to put Dylan to sleep first before his brother could freely do his habit. While for Dylan, he covers either eye with his free hand as he sucks his milk. Oh yes, and for Boogie, I can’t tell!
School would be over for Lukie on the 22nd of June and I’ll be able to have more-extra sleep. The teacher who comes with the school bus told me to enroll Lukie for the summer class. She told me its more fun cause they’ll be going to the beach, museums and amusement parks. Lukie tried it last year but its too exhausting for him. He has to get up early when he went to bed late. I myself can’t sleep when at 9:00 PM the sun is still out. Besides, the ‘LunaPark’ (carnival), video arcade and ice cream parlors open only this time of the year- so we make the most out of it(during the night). Its also too hot to go to bed early. Plus, you just can’t get enough of the day specially if there’s a Pinoy party at a neighbor’s house.
Back on waking up. When every one is awake, we put up the blinds and open the curtains to get a better view from the window. We just lye down there watching the birds which have been noisy since 4 in the morning. Then we make plans on what to do for the rest of the day till our stomachs grumble for a late breakfast.
Summer is not summer when we don’t use the swimming pool. Last year, Lukie was brave enough to dive the deepest part after running 7 meters for his momentum. With arm bands of course. We hope this year he’ll learn how to swim already. Eeisshh, I like the fun being at the pool everyday or at the beach, but I don’t like to get tanned. I prefer my pale color. But then again, if that’s what it takes for my kids to have that FUN, “dark mama”-bring it on! Summer time is less than 4 months anyway.
On the kids taking the space of our bed, I’ll tell you more on my next blog. Have to prepare my boys for their first beach this year.
