Christianing “D”

Posted in DYLAN by dyluks74 on the May 30, 2007

Thank you very much to all those who attended Dylan’s Christianing last Sunday and also to those who were with us in thoughts. It was a solemn ceremony even though there were 4 babies baptized that day. Dylan standing out as the only Asian with his mini ‘Barong’.

He was asleep when the priest poured the Holy Water 3 times on his forehead. The last part where the priest raised up each baby for the ‘proclamation’  as being new members of the Christian world, Baby D was in shock. The applauding Italians made him shake a bit, as if saying, “ What happen’? What happened?”

The other babies had only one or two godparents while ours were eleven. It was the first time of that community to see many Pinoys. Maybe they call it “occasional” church goers. Not that we Pinoys don’t go to church, its just that, most of us go to Fava in Venice. It’s where you’ll see many Filipinos during Sundays . We live an hour ride away from Fava that’s why we had the baptism in the church near our place.

It was also the first time of the Chinese restaurant we hired to dish up such occassion. Their servings were literally in bulk and we were very much satisfied. So with the taste and service. We even brought home a lot of food that added what we prepared for dinner to our friends who did not make it for lunch.

There was an official photographer of the church during the mass and the christianing rites. We were only aloud to take photos before and after. We will be getting the pictures on Friday.

Such spending makes me guilty sometimes when I think of those people who are in need. But being with friends and family celebrating my children’s special days, gives me the feeling of being close to “home’’. It also bonds my kids with their Filipino heritage…good food, good-happy-loud company and every day off calls for a festivity.

Mothering Around

Posted in LUKIE by dyluks74 on the May 17, 2007

Here’s what stage mothering is all about. Following my son Lukie with the camera as he rides his bike around our houseImg_1792_1. My excuse…I’m just proud how he learned to ride it right away after my husband took off the two supporting wheels(is that the right term?). Now he’s ready for the "big bike" and this little one goes to his brother "D". Img_1793_2_1

Last Sunday, the world, so as ‘friendster’, was busy sending greetings to all the Mamas. These pictures show why we as children and our children and all the children out there will always mark ‘Mother’s Day’. Why? Because, good mothers do EXAGERATE.Img_1794_1_1 Img_1796_1

I can’t take a good photo of him because he was going fast and obviously riding away from the mad mama paparazzi. He got fed up and went inside our home and I followed him. Then he slowly sneaked out to do this new achievement of his again. I gave it a rest. I just stayed by the window watching him…no more camera this time. My baby is growing! It’s just a bike. So how’s that, if it would be a car soon? Again, you’re "exaggerating"…Mama!Img_1798 Img_1799_1 Img_1804_1 Img_1806_1 Img_1810 Img_1812_1

MUST CLICKS

Spring cleaning gave me a mental block. I just need to paint the terrace and I’d be fine by then. My geraniums are complaining to be hanged now but the rains are stopping me to refresh the white balustrade. Img_1125

Dylan had his first solid meal and mashed apple today. He liked it. Not with  Lukie before, he keeps on crying when he had his. They had one thing in common though, they don’t cry when they’re hungry. They let Mama do the guessing.

Easter_019

These passed days, I go online just to check my e-mail, read my book marked blogs, see if Russel has new pictures and read the Sun Star. Speaking of these links, let me share them to you.

First, if you miss Baguio, go view Russel Ariola’s Gallery Russel Ariola’s Gallery  A real pro and a talented artist. He is my husband’s mentor and patiently answer Boogie’s queries on photography. His pictures of the Panagbenga and other local events will stun you. My favorite is his ROOTS collection. He took it at her wife’s home town, it made me like him more as a person not the photographer. BABY GALLERY showed his father spot and G’s Chronicle – her lovely wife’s photos will make you envious on how a husband immortalizes his wife. If you visit his website, make sure to sign his guest book and leave some comments even though its obvious that he deserves to be praised. I promise this is a free ad, he doesn’t need to pay me hahah. Just by looking at his works, it pays off.

Next is Frank Cimatu’s Blog pine for pine A great Journalist. His articles are of mixed genre. He interestingly talks anything under the sun and includes funny visual aids.

Sun Star Baguio , checking it all the time if Mondax has an article and to also update me with what’s up there.

I just registered at  Scrabulous and yet to play against robots for a start.

The first ever forum I joined in to is BCO Made friends online with Abbob, Princess Lea, Igorata75, mountaineer, Jonica, MIB and Baguio Beans. Its also where I came to meet Rubbahumpy or the Russel Ariola. lugan.ikit’s posts are my favorites and Dislocated too, though I don’t sometimes agree with him. Go join the fun and you’ll feel why I included it here.

Another is My Good Finds . She is from Pacdal and a Kalanguya like me. I’ve met her in one of the forums and she was the one who convinced me to start blogging. She said I need to continue writing about my family’s quest when I finished my Lolo Ramon’s Story on the said forum.
